When the online version of Rosetta Stone begins loading Shockwave I get an error message that 'Shockwave Decompression XTRA is missing'. In my Library/Application Support/Macromedia/Shockwave 10/Xtras folder there is a file called 'SWA Decompression PPC Xtra' but Shockwave can't seem to find it when it loads. Any other Rosetta Stone users have this trouble? -Sean Mac G4 400, 450DP, 14' iBook G3, Mac Mini G4, Mac Mini Core Duo, Mac OS X (10.4.10) Posted on Oct 14, 2007 6:42 PM. Hi Sean, I had the same problem as you, and even went so far as to waste my time asking RS support. (Their technical support executive sent me an FAQ on how to install Shockwave for Windows. Download Coreavc Professional Edition 3.0.1.0 Final. ) After some searching I discovered that there are two versions of Shockwave and that by default the Slim (or light) version is the default. This one does not work with Rosetta Stone even though their compatibiity checker says it is fine (so another strike against RS in my book).

Uninstal the current 'slim' version of Shockwave, return to the Adobe download page and choose the other versions link on the right and manually select the full installer for OS X and you should be fine. I now have RS working and am slowly making my way through the software. I have to say however that the whole interface is a bit too much Windows 3.1 styled for my liking. Good luck, Marcus Posted on Oct 19, 2007 6:28 AM.

Prior to reading this, I installed shockwave like 3 times (without uninstalling.so I assume it overwrote) trying to get it to work in RS. Anyway I have a macromedia folder in two places.one in my home/library/application support.and one in Macintosh HD/library/application support. The one in my HD/libr/app/ has the actual plugin and a bunch of 'xtras'.
